Starting June 1, 2016, Michigan State University’s Career Services Network will begin to utilize Handshake – our new online recruiting platform that connects MSU students with employers and alumni. Handshake will be replacing MySpartanCareer. We are excited about this move for many reasons and think you will be too.

  • Internship, part-time, and full-time job search
  • Career exploration resources
  • Career related workshops and presentations
  • Employer events, including career fairs
  • Links to career resources
  • Optimized mobile experience

Note: The Graduate Career Management Center will continue to use BroadNet.

5 Steps To Get Started:

  1. Log in to Handshake. Use your MSU Net ID and password and log in on the MSU Handshake page.
  2. Fill out your profile. Some of your information will already be in your Handshake profile. Check to be sure all information is correct and fill out the remainder.
  3. Upload a Document. You will likely want to have a public resume available in Handshake for employers to see. This will also help you complete your Handshake profile.
  4. Take Handshake for a spin. Use the top search bar and filters to look for companies and jobs you are interested in learning more about or applying to. You can always save your searches in Handshake, so finding relevant employers and jobs will be easy.
  5. Follow jobs and employers you are interested in. When you follow an employer or a job, you will automatically start receiving information about the company or job so you will not miss out on updates or new opportunities.

  • Multi-school job posting
  • Powerful applicant filtering
  • On-campus recruiting schedules
  • Career fair management
  • Optimized mobile experience

Job Postings and OCR:

  • Any student is allowed to apply to any job posting – you can see how many students qualify at each school you are posting the position to under Student Drilldown, on the right side of the screen
  • Major Groups are categories that each school who uses Handshake map their majors to – you could potentially see other majors in your applicant pool if you select Major Groups so we encourage our employers to select individual majors specific to MSU

Note: The Graduate Career Management Center will continue to use BroadNet.
